In May, nonprofit food education organization Local Matters successfully reached their $10,000 donation effort, entitled “Seeding the Future”, needed to fund a series of summer programs to educate children about the origins, properties and preparation techniques of healthy food. More than 1,400 kids will participate in the “Food Matters in Your Garden” summer series.
The initial goal was to raise $5,000 from the community, to be matched then with a private donation of $5,000 from Local Matters co-founder Michael Jones. Online contributions were $7,685, bringing the overall total to $12,685.
