Parker Hannifin, a Cleveland-based global manufacturing and engineering company, has developed eco-technology that helps large vehicles to operate greener. The company operates a facility in Columbus, off I-270 and Roberts Road, that designs and produces hybrid drivetrain systems for vehicles such as parcel delivery trucks, refuse collectors and city buses. The efficiency captured by utilizing Parker’s braking energy technology reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per vehicle by an average of 48 tons per year, equal to the amount of carbon sequestered by 1,300 trees.
Cities where this technology is on the road include Miami and Hialeah, Florida; Seymour, Indiana; Manteca, California; and Austin, Texas.
